| A
visit to rural Africa
is like a step back in
time where nature rules
and mankind is but a spectator.
It is not surprising then
that for travelers, this
is a trip of a lifetime
and Botswana does not
disappoint.
Low
impact tourism ensures
that Botswana’s
abundant natural resources
remain unspoiled, offering
vast areas of pristine
African wilderness, emerald
green wetlands, red desert
sands, riverine forests
and expansive floodplains,
including the Okavango
Delta, Chobe River and
game reserve, Makgadikgadi
Pans and Kalahari Desert.

120,000 Elephants
Botswana is home
to some of the largest populations of wildlife in
Africa, including an estimated 120,000 elephants.
The largest concentrations of elephants congregate
in herds too large to count along the flood plains
of the Chobe River. Pods of hippo float like rafts.
Buffalo, crocodiles, baboons and antelope share
the riverbanks and great predators hunt the grasslands
and wilderness of Moremi and Savuti. |

Wildlife and
Wilderness
Botswana’s
unspoiled wilderness is a landscape of diversity
and contrasts, with emerald green wetlands, red
desert sands, riverine forests, expansive floodplains
and savannas teeming with wildlife. With 17% of
the land area set aside for wildlife, Botswana is
one of Africa’s finest safari destinations. |

Water and Land Safaris
The diverse eco-systems that
characterize this wilderness allow for both water and
land safari experiences. Safaris along the Chobe River
by boat provide close access to the riverbanks and the
multitude of wildlife that the river supports. Crocodiles
bask on the sand banks. Vast numbers of hippo gather in
large pods. Antelope, elephant, buffalo, baboons and many
smaller species frequent the water’s edge. Photographic
opportunities are limitless. The lonely cry of fish eagles
and the spectacular sunsets over the water are our lifelong
memories of Chobe. The beautiful
oasis of the Okavango Delta defines another very different
experience of a safari on water. Mokoro canoe adventures
and even a safari on elephant back are options not to
be missed. Off-road eco-sensitive safaris in an open
4x4 provide a perfect balance to this ultimate safari
experience, with endless opportunities for really close
encounters with Africa’s big game. Imagine observing
hyena pups at their den deep in the bush, or tracking
a cheetah and her cubs to her kill on the plains.
